Time to open a pack of Heritage

Let's rip open a pack of Topps Heritage and see what happens, shall we?

Great start - Jeff Francoeur, Hanley Ramirez and B.J. Upton. All right.
Verlander black card. And finally.......Alaska! (You should say that in a high pitched, annoying voice.)

All in all I like this set. I think it's pretty cool, I'm always a sucker for a throwback, vintage-looking set. I could probably do without the state cards, but oh well. Not too bad overall.

2008 Topps Heritage Mini

Well, time to bust see what came in the bonus pack inside the Heritage blaster box I bought from Target a while ago. Here are the four mini cards I got:

Joey Votto
Chin-Lung Hu
Ryan Howard
Vladimir Guerrero

I'm not sure how I feel about this set yet. I know there are only 15 cards, so completing the mini set would probably be pretty easy. I'm sure I could easily and cheaply pick up the remaining cards on eBay. But I'm just not totally sold on this set. I think it's cool that Topps used the T205 design, but this mini set just doesn't quite do it for me. I think I much prefer the Allen & Ginter mini sets, including the world leaders, etc. They just seem cooler to me, but that's just me.

2008 Topps Heritage

Yesterday I bought a blaster box of 2008 Heritage baseball cards from Target. Let's rip open a pack.

5. Justin Ruggiano
6. J.D. Drew
7. Josh Banks
8. Matt Holliday - Chrome #808/1959

Not bad overall. I think this is a pretty cool set. Some of the pictures are not too clear or crisp, which is alright with me because it makes it look more like the older sets I enjoy. The Holliday card is pretty cool. I missed out on the whole chrome and refractor craze the hit the trading card industry so it was kind of cool to pull one of those, especially of a young slugger with a bright future.

I think I may try to get some more Heritage cards - maybe this will be the next set I try to complete, we'll see.
